Paul Sailer has been interested in WWII aviation history for many years. He received a Bachelor's degree in Social Studies, with an emphasis in American History, from Moorhead State College, Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1969 and a pilot’s rating from the U.S. Army’s Advanced Flight School at Fort Rucker, Alabama, in 1970.
Sailer flew Bell UH-1H Iroquois (Huey) and Bell OH-58A Kiowa helicopters with the 20th Engineer Brigade in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971. The author was born and raised in Minnesota. He has lived on a tree farm in rural Wadena County, Minnesota, since 1984. He is currently writing a memoir of his experience in Vietnam.
